Last night I finally got the completed CD that we recorded almost 1 year ago. I had been very anxiously awaiting it's release. We are a ~60 piece concert band and this is our second CD. During the recording session, I had the microphone mounted about 12" over my bell. The other two guys were on either side of me, and wanted nothing to do with it, so there I sat knowing that any of the tuba parts, good or clams would certainly be mine. I have to admit that having the microphone like that can be a little intimidating. I thought that it went very well, but without being able to hear it, left me wondering. Well, bottom line, I haven't heard the whole thing yet, but what I did hear sounded good. One song, a polka style, has an extensive tuba part that you have to really cook. Anyone else have some recording experience to share?
