One less frustration

Post by lgb&dtuba »

After looking around for a music stand that can safely hold an open 3 or 4 inch binder crammed with music and not finding a good one I hit upon a solution that works for me.

A 3.5 x 18 inch blank, black rack mount panel, 4 holes in the stand shelf, 2 additional in the panel, 10-32 x 3/8 nuts and bolts and voila, a 3.5 inch shelf that's stronger than the original.

Won't really work with a folding wire stand, I suspect, but great for a Manhassat style desk.

one less...

or buy 2 of these from BW/WW —

They extend the desk out to the sides providing much more room. Been using a pair of these on my Manhasset "voyager" stand for a long time and they work very well for me. Note the "single/double lip" comment on the web site though, apparently they will not slide over the edge on some stands.

I think you misunderstood what I did. Side to side width wasn't what I changed.. Depth of the shelf the music sits on was. It's the thickness of the music books, not their widths that was the problem.

I'll post a picture later. Got to leave for a gig soon and all is packed right now.
