Probably tuba are like babies - everyone thinks their own is the most beautiful. However, from the first time I saw the Mel Culbertson Neptune, I thought it was the most beautiful tuba I have ever seen. A perfectly balanced design enhanced by its special bell and valve key engravings, with the beautification completed by gold lacquer finish. Here is mine!

My Neptune has been slightly customized by the main water key being moved to the bottom of the slide, so I can empty without lifting off its playing stand.

OK... I suggested the most beautiful sousaphone and helicon earlier and said there were many pretty tubas to chose from. Well, after thinking about it for a while I have made my choice....

Last year I bought a tiny Carl Fischer Eb tuba on eBay. It isn't beautiful by any stretch of the imagination. But it often gets an "AW, THAT'S CUTE" reaction when people realize it isn't a euphonium.
