R&S Helleberg throat measurment

Post by Tubaryan12 »

Edit 12.27.2006:

Now I need the measurement of the throat of a R&S Helleberg.

Does anyone have a measurement on the throat on a Bach 18? If so, please post.

Keeping in mind that Bach specs, including the internal cup diameters, are notoriously smaller than actual production, by comparing the throat of my Bach 18 to my Wick 1, which has a similar throat diameter, and by doing a rough measurement with my cheap calipers, the published spec is probably pretty close, because throats are usually drilled with a specific bit rather than lathed to a spec: 8.84 mm; .348 in; page 9 of the Bach Mouthpiece Manual, which you can get here:

www.bachbrass.com/mouthpiece/Images/bachmouth.pdf

BTW: the Megatone 18 throat spec is 9 mm; .354 in.
