I encourage you all to go to Steve Mead's website (www.euphonium.net) and check out an article he posted on 12/18 on his guestbook about these new instruments from York.
Here's the link: http://pub13.bravenet.com/guestbook/sho ... 3397&cpv=1
Here's the article:
"YORK - made by Schreiber , who now have nothing to do with the Besson/Buffet Crampon range at all. They were asked to make the parts initally for the cornets, horns and baritones but did such a terrible job these parts were then sourced from Courtois and JA Musik (who are making the new euphs and tubas). Then Schreiber decided they were going to bring out their own poor imitation copies of the new Bessons, using all the old tooling that was responsible for all the problems Besson had in the last five years, for example: poor valve groups, leaking valves, bad internal finish to the actual valves themselves. Slides that dont close properly, beels with seams showing...all assembled by a work force with a skill shortage for this kind of assembly. To make matters worse for them they are in business with John Rogers, the man who was in charge of the old Besson when they were leaking and losing money, The instrument are due to be released in February...but dont expect too much ! "
Hope this helps!
