Manufactured Patina of old horns

I understand that there is a "chemical" that will "brown" patina brass horns. Does anyone know what it is, how difficult it is to use and how dangerous is it to dispose of? I have buffed and old horn to get the "green crap" off of it and would like to "return" it to a patina-ed condition. I would have left it alone except for the extensive green rot. While I like a shiney horn, this one cries for an old patina again.

It's called "Liver of Sulfur" in the finishing trade--it's usually just a polysulfide of Sodium or Potassium. Dissolve in warm water, hold your nose (it really stinks!) brush it on a clean horn until you've got the shade you want. Anything from a light straw color to black is possible.
