Gronitz 125 (? the piston one)
Yamaha 822
I've heard that the MW2182 is awesome
the firebird (miraphone, mirafone?) in gold brass is nice
Go to Dillon when you get a chance, or have them send you some stuff on trial, or custom , I'm not sure where to get a gronitz (Tuba Exchange?) and you can get an 822 pretty much anywhere.

I've played both and have listened to Roger Lewis play both -- dramatically different instruments.Getzeng50s wrote:i Did switch from the Yamaha YFB822 to the Firebird. If you want to know, ill tell you, just PM me. the Yamaha has been sold.
Would you mind sharing your thoughts on these two, and what prompted the change? If it were me in this situation, after I tried the 281, I finally found a rotary F tuba with a decent low C, and that would have been a potential motivator to switch to a rotary F -- assuming I also wanted to go to a much brighter sound.
