I don't know about a cd recording, but I know The University of North Texas Wind Symphony recorded it last year and made a DVD of it. It's supposed to be released real soon. I think there are just some legal things to tie up. You can try contacting UT's music department since they gave the premiere. I know I heard their recording, but I'm not sure where it came from. Good luck.

The Corigliano 3rd Symphony is called "Circus Maximus." Corigliano does not refer to at as "the Third Symphony" or "Symphony No. 3" in the time we spent with him. He calls it "Circus Maximus."
It has been performed around the country but was commissioned and nurtured by Jerry Junkin at the Univ. of Texas, without his input the piece would not have been written. I would suggest you get the Junkin Recording because of his close collaboration with Corigliano. You can probably get it directly from the UT Band Department.
It is very much a theater piece and you will miss a lot with an audio recording. I never experienced anything like I did hearing the opening of this piece in a live performance... and that includes a lot of very fine performances.

The UNT Wind Symphony DVD is also in Surround Sound and was also made in close collaboration with both Corigliano and Junkin. They decided to make a DVD because of all the theater effects that are lost on the audio recording. So either the audio recording or the DVD will be a good buy. The DVD also has two other pieces on it, something with string quartet and band accompaniment, and a very cool piece called Cosmosis with choir and band accompaniment. The only problem with the UNT Corigliano recording is that they couldn't use an actual shotgun for the last note, so they had to use a simulated shotgun sound. Good luck finding the piece. Great piece best heard live.

I got a chance to preview the Corigliano DVD that UNT will be putting out soon, and it was amazing!! Such a great piece, and they worked really hard on putting together a really well-rounded DVD with so much to watch and listen to!! The two other works on the disc alone would make it a good buy.
Highly recommended..
Plus this super-hot bassoon player gets lots of camera time. Just an added bonus.
