Generally a good answer to the question "can it be played on tuba?" is always YES!!!!! (it just depends on how much work you're willing to put into it)

this sounds like it would be sick as a brass group, "insert number of parts"-tet

besides, what is a tubax but a tuba with a reed put on it? (nobody take that comment seriously).

seriously tho, doesn't even look like a tuba except the height of the bell in relation to the rest of the instrument....

The low saxophone guy in our band showed up with a bass sax last week. Looks a lot like the one in picture above. I put my G&W Caver mouthpiece in it... (it fits) and blew some terrible notes. I'm imagining this must be about what an ophiclide sounds like. There must be some rational way to integrate the harmonics we get with mouthpiece and the pitch changes from the keys.
