if you're cheap, a little velcro will do the trick.just wrap some around the pencil and a little around an easy to reach inner tube of the horn.works for me....

They are available here in the UK from Mr.Tuba http://www.mrtuba.com in two sizes to fit different size tubing. I find the smaller more useful - it will clip on a nickel tuning slide (one which I always have pulled out), so does not mark the lacquer and like that even fits my Neptune.
No doubt Mark would put one, or more in the post to you, if you have trouble sourcing in the states.
I have a pencil clipped on each of my tubas and would not be without them.

Manhasset makes a black plastic clip to put on the shaft of their music stands. You can usually find a tube on the tuba that is similar in size. It also should not mar your finish.
Check with wwbw or other similar retailer who sells Manahsset stands.

here is a link...

for a buck 9 you really can't beat it. You will probably pay more in shipping, so to save on the shipping cost you may as well just buy a new tuba and tell them to clip the pencil holder on it when they ship the horn....

I like it - I must get one of thoseDoc wrote:Speaking of preparedness,
I always have one of these on my Manhasset. It's much more important than a pencil holder.

I have one of these "mug" holders on my stand in my teachng studio for my coffee mug or can of diet pepsi.
I usually only drink a "malt beverage" during long practice sessions.
I received it as a neat Christmas present from my kids a few year back.

Is this the only pencil clip available online? I can't find them in the stores around DC, either. I need a few of these.big_blue_tubist wrote:But I found this clip on Hickey's:

I have a Manhassett Voayger and found that the wieght of some of my books (2.5" 3 ring binder) would cause the music desk to slowly move toward the floor. I drilled a hole through the upright and attached a small chain and stainless rod (old bicycle spoke) to the desk. I just shove the rod through the upright and it stays in place. The chain keeps me from losing it.

No thanks. When you lose your pencil, you have to find another pencil and another piece of velcro. I'm not smart enough to use velcro.Carroll wrote:I use this on all my horns.
