Our own Bob1062 has a couple of cheaper eefers for sale right now.
Check the "For Sale" section.
I've dealt with him and would consider him "TubeNet Trustworthy".

Some times there are old 3 valve Russian Eb and BBb tubas on the German eBay, that are nice players for the money. I owned an Eb for a week (traded it for another tuba) that was quite good. If it had had 4 valves I had surely kept it.
There is only (what seems to be) the BBb version for sale right now:

Nice intonation and a surprisingly nice and round tone. If I needed a cheap Eb, I would buy another.
Anybody know how the BBb version plays?

I have this Amati Eb for sale. $400 plus shipping. It has a small shank receiver but I will include a Wick 3 copy mp if you desire at no extra charge. No case.

I bought it a little over a year ago from Oberloh so you can check it out at the following link

It photographs a little nicer than actually it is. The finish is decent but not a perfect horn but it is certainly a decent horn for the money (and for sale cheaper than it was at a highly respected shop). You can post or PM me if interested.

Most educated people in Germany (like those who use Ebay) take English in school. I usually try English first and then make them struggle with my schoolboy Deutsch if that doesn't work.Super Smooth wrote:Thanks for the responses. I wonder if they will understand my Babel Fish German?

Macht nichts. Heh. Honestly, there is such an oversupply of Eb three-bangers in the US, I wouldn't even deal with the whole shipping from Europe thing anywho.
There are some good horns for sale right here on this site and at http://www.thevillagetinker.com/horns_for_sale.htm Dillon seems a little high on their old Ebs. Baltimore Brass has a $550 front 3-v Conn that's been on their site for a couple of months now, maybe make an offer. The good thing about buying from a real shop like The Village Tinker, Dillon's, BB or Oberloh is that you have their guarantee that the horn is playable, in good mechanical shape, clean, etc. The Ebay sousa I bought needed $200 worth of cleaning and repairs. Most people don't take care of their instruments.
The nice thing about horns in this price range is that you have very little risk of getting stuck with one that ends up not fitting you or your style or group, etc. They seem to keep getting recycled by those who want to learn Eb (like me), but don't want to sink $2K+ into a Yamaha, etc. And if you end up losing $50 or $100 turning it around, BFD. The helicons and sousas are more unique and would probably hold value better.
Eric "happy with his old Conn eefer for now" L.
