Do you disagree with those basic points? To borrow from the article Joe posted, is it indeed an unreasonable person who pays an unreasonable price, especially based on a self-delusional definition of "need"?

Do you disagree that a company is not obligated to its outside investors to charge the highest price the market (i.e., buyers) will bear?

If you think I was actually being mean by using the terms "hobbyist" and "boutique", then you are simply mistaken.

I stated my case. You asked for us to stop. I have stopped.

Someone should put up a poll.

- Rick Denney won
- sloan won
- got me, they both seem to know what they're talking about
- if only we could talk politics, I could clear this up in a jiffy
- if only we could post pictures of food ...

And tuba. But wouldn't dream of buying a new tuba, so current retail prices don't affect me directly.

has it occurred to many of you, that maybe much of what was posted in here is "correct"?

There is no 1 simple or even complex answer to price issues and economics. There is such a WIDE range of possibilities and factors, that one CANNOT fully explain. So how about this....

Tuba's cost more now than before. Cost of living is up, prices are up...etc. This is the fact of it all. I feel that so much is posted in here as fact, when in essence, they are all PART of the big picture.

So, in conclusion, economics is a complicated issue...which is why it is such a hard class in college... :P

Yeah, and then your Accounting professor tells you the Econ prof has it all wrong anyways!
(Still glad I took those courses, though... I may even have an opportunity to apply that stuff someday. )

Accounting is the notes.

Economics is the music.
