Mike Roylance as Tubby, with the Cupcake Philharmonic Orch.

Post by enewberger »

Hi, all. Here's a gorgeous solo turn by Mike Roylance on Tubby the Tuba on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3BlX5QkO7M

This is the text that goes with it:

"Tubby the Tuba," story by Paul Tripp, music by George Kleinsinger. The Cupcake Philharmonic Orchestra, Mike Roylance, solo tuba and valve trombone, David Tripp, narrator, Mark Churchill, cello, Marylou Speaker Churchill, violin, Carolyn Newberger, flute and piccolo, Amanda Roylance, trumpet, Eli Newberger, piano and synthesizer, conducting. Performed at St. Botolph Club, Boston, MA, on May 9, 2007. http://www.elinewberger.com
Please note the recent publication of "Tubby the Tuba," (Dutton Children's Books) that includes a CD of the wonderful 1946 recording, narrated by Paul Tripp, who awakened one night during David's childhood with the idea for "Tubby."

Enjoy!

Thank you so much for putting that and the other videos up (When You Wish.... et al). Great stuff! And also to Mr. Roylance if you are out there..... An absolute delight!

better (uninterrupted) video of Roylance "Tubby the Tub

Post by enewberger »

Hi again. YouTube's 10-minute limit made it necessary to cut "Tubby the Tuba" into 3 parts, but there's another version now on my website that runs continuously.

To me, Mike's magnificent sound comes across more powerfully here, also.
