I just watched and listened to this awesome DVD entitled, "Frederick Fennell Remembered". This DVD, recorded on April 20, 2000, is the last recorded performance of Dr. Fennell and the Tokyo Wind Orchestra. This DVD was made in his honor and commemorates the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra's 40th anniversary -- where Dr. Fennell was conductor for 12 years. The TKWO is regarded as one of the finest wind bands in the world.

Here's a list of the works performed:
  • 1. Chorale and Alleluia/ Howard Hanson
    2. All Souls' Day/ Strauss-Fennell
    3. Swedish Folk Songs and Dances/ Soderman
    ... all eight movements
    4. Symphonic Suite/Clifton Williams
    ... all five movements
    5. Suite from the Ballet "Firebird"/ Stravinsky-Fennell
    ... all seven movements
    6. Crown Imperial/Walton
    7. None But The Lonely Heart op.6 no.6/ Tchaikovsky-Kimura
    8. King Cotton/ Sousa-Fennell
This DVD cost me $29 and is well worth the investment. You can really tell from Dr. Fennell's facial expression how he really enjoyed making wonderful music. Most of the time he didn't even use a score.

Here's a link for the DVD if interested... but there are other sources (just google for them if necessary)
