2 NEW Steve Mead discs

Post by ufoneum »

Just wanted to let you all know about 2 new discs from Steven Mead.

1.) Colours of the World - this is the second disc from Steven Mead and Trombonisti Italia, the leading trombone quartet from Italy. To follow up the first disc, 4 Valves 4 Slides, this is a collection of folk music from all over the world.

2.) Four Concertos - this is a brand new disc that I have yet to hear, but I am sure if amazing. Earlier this year, to celebrate the 80th birthday of Joseph Horovitz, the Royal Ballet Sinfonia recorded this disc of four of Joseph Horovitz's concerti for various instruments: euphonium, clarinet, violin and jazz piano. The orchestra is stunning, and I'm sure at least the euphonium playing is top notch. The composer is conducting all of the performances on this disc as well.
