The valves of my 1925 Buescher were in such a bad state, that I had to decide to replace them. I had the luck to get in touch with Allard of the repairshop "Blazeratelier" at Tilburg in the Netherlands. He managed to copy (and in detail improve) the original valves with an unbelievable result and for the price of only a few hundred euros. The Buescher plays, as if it was produced yesterday. Thanks to Allard. Highly recommended!!!

Hi Wade,
I am not expert enough to describe in detail what Allard did. But indeed he has built new valves AND he has redone the inside of the cases with a round stone, because these seem to wear to a certain "hollowness" over the years. And exactly that is one of the reasons that replating only sometimes does not give a satisfying result, al least when the valves are worn badly.
I had them replated more than a year ago, but it did not work out perfectly. And because the valves are the heart of the instrument I decided not to rest, before having found the perfect solution. And....Allard fixed it!!
So: happy tubist and an early Buescher reborn!!
Kind regards,
Hubert.
