The Frackenpohl Concertino for Tuba and Orchestra is a good one. Not as demanding in the high register.

If he or you has/have access to Finale or Sibelius, take a stab at Handel's g Minor Oboe Concerto. Drop it 2 octaves. Lots of notes, but very musical and range is not tough at all. Or else, look at the Mozart 3rd Horn Concerto. Just read it in bass clef and add 3 flats. (Sharps? ouch, having a brain cramp.)

Or buy Concert Music for Tubas from Tuba Euphonium Press and get it already transposed but still playable with the French Horn piano part.
Always make a good sound; audiences will forget if you miss a note but making a good sound will get you the next job.

Ernest Williams' "Second Concerto" (Concerto#2). Range is Pedal Eb to C above the staff. Three movements, medium tempos (except for mvmnt#3, fast, 6/8). However, you should play what you like.....
