St. Louis releases Turangalila, Bruckner IV CDs and more...

Post by Mike »

Dear friends,
I am pleased to announce that the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra has released a set of four compact discs featuring the orchestra in live concert performances with our former Music Director, the late Hans Vonk. Two of these compact discs are of repertoire that could be of interest to the folks that frequent Tubenet: Anton Bruckner's Fourth Symphony, and Olivier Messiaen's "Turangalila-symphonie".
The two additional discs feature music of French composers Debussy, Ravel, and Roussel, and the First Symphony of Beethoven and the Fourth Symphony of Brahms. Another group of four CDs will be released in the Spring of 2008. These recordings honor the legacy of Hans Vonk the Music Director of the SLSO from 1996 to 2002. A neurological condition forced Vonk to end his conducting career. He died in Amsterdam, his home, on August 29, 2004.
The recordings are produced by Pentatone and are being distributed in the US by Naxos. Additional information below.

Regards,

Mike Sanders

My copy was ordered as soon as I saw "Turangalila-Symphonie" and "St. Louis Symphony" in the same line. Thanks for the heads-up!
