Interesting article

Figured it was about time to write one of my periodic rants against the current system of copyright laws. Fortunately for me (and probably you), someone has gone and done it for me...

The summary is here:

While the long paper is here:

The summary isn't a long writing, but it highlights some of the absurdities that can result from the way our laws work--namely, one average man's calculated $4.5 BILLION/year infringement liability. It also points out how the deficiencies in the law can translate to perceived illegitimacy in the real world which, in turn, further harms creators.

Eventually, creators will realize that the only people benefiting from the current copyright laws are the middlemen (record companies, for example) and intellectual property lawyers. An interesting read and one that I think is quite applicable to the discussions on this board.
