Horovitz Euphonium Concerto

Post by druby »

I picked the Steven Mead recordings done with Brass Band on iTunes. I downloaded the 3 movements for $.99 each. Dave Werden has an older Mead recording for free on his web site, but it is not as good. I played the first two movements in recital this last summer with piano accompianment. They went pretty well. I hope to master the 3rd movement this year. I love this concerto, primarily because it is so emotional.

I was able to get coaching this last summer from Adam Frey and Roland Froescher in master classes. Both had studied the work with Josef Horovitz in the UK. I was able to get some great tips about the articulation and tempi.
