Anyone know this guy?

Post by tubafatness »

I was just watching a documentary video on Mauricio Kagel, and one of the pieces that is performed features a tuba/sousaphone in Eb part. I didn't recognize the tuba player, so I thought I'd ask here. I'm positive that the performers are all from Germany or some other country that speaks German. Here's the pic, (sorry for the low resolution)

Here's the URL for the video, if you want to see for yourself.

Any leads?
Thanks,
Aaron

That's Tjeerd Oostendorp, a Dutch guy. He's seen here playing his enormous one-off Monke tuba.

Thanks for the info! After watching the rest of the video, I've figured out that the group playing is the ASKO ensemble, of which Mr. Oostendorp is the tubist. Great video, especially the performances.

It's kind of spooky - in the still image he looks a whole lot like the late great Rex Conner.

As I said, a one-off Monke.
