Star Wars Medley

Post by Steve Marcus »

The packet of music just arrived in the mail tonight for an orchestra concert being performed next weekend. The only rehearsal is on Friday, 3/28. One of the selections is Star Wars Medley arranged by James H. Burden.

Instead of the tuba part for this selection, the coordinator of the concert enclosed a note that reads:

"I do not have a tuba part for this. So unless you happen to have one, I gave you the 2nd and 3rd trombone parts in case you can use one of them."

If you have the tuba part to this arrangement, please scan it and email it to me at semarcus1@yahoo.com.

If you can only send a copy of the tuba part by snail-mail, please PM me.

Thank you very much!

Mystery solved, FWIW.

The part marked "Basses" is intended to be the tuba part. Apparently this arranger and/or the publisher simply took the tuba part from the same arranger's version for concert band without any editing or revision and included it in the orchestra version. There are other published orchestral arrangements of Star Wars where the tuba has a much more independent part from the string basses which is considerably more interesting, but unfortunately this is the arrangement in the library of the orchestra for which I have been hired. No complaints; I'm happy for the engagement. The coordinator has faxed me the part.

Thanks very much to those who researched this.
