Practice room furnishings

I am just refurbishing my tuba practice room and am debating what flooring to have - tile, cork, or carpet.

The room has plaster walls - size 18' x 9' with 5'-8' high ceiling. I would be interested in feedback on what would give the better acoustics. I guess the tiles would give more reverberation than the carpet, but is that better for practice?

Practice for where you'll be performing; on a stage in a hall. Whatever gives you the CLOSEST approximation (realizing that it may not get THAT close at all, but still, closest... ) is the way I'd go...

We recently replaced the carpet in our music room with hardwood and it sounds AWESOME! I only hung up a couple pictures in there to keep the sounds alive. My black lab, Cessna, loves it too!

She comes in and sings with me almost every time I play.

I don't know if this is the best atmosphere for practicing, but it sure sounds good.
