Trip to Blokeville

Just wanted to give a plug for Joe Sellsmanberger and his repair work.Since Lee Stofer moved 900 miles away,I've had a few projects on the back burner.I was recently asked to do a solo performance on a middle school band's spring concert which forced my hand.My B&S f's linkages just weren't up to the task(All Those Endearing Young Charms,edited for f tuba).So I contacted Joe and we set up a day for me to come visit.Much to my surprise,Joe turned out to be a great guy

.When I pulled up he was building a chicken coop.I ended up spending the night in his great log house with 3 orange cats,24 young chickens,2 helicons and Joe's family.Joe worked all the next day on my horns.He changed my linkages to dubro on my f,He vented the valves on my thor(not that I pull the slides that much,but it makes for quieter water emptying during those quiet orchestra moments),he worked on my tbone slide and my euph valves.He also lengthened my 5th valve on my f to help out the low register intonation and removed quite a few of the old dents.All of my horns are now tip-top and I'm really enjoying my f again.I got to play Joe's 2 helicons-the world famous 5 valve CC and the not as famous but very good little 5 rotary valve B&S Eb.Both great horns.His 6valve B&S f is also really nice.I had a very good time and got some 1st rate work done on my horns.Joe and his wife Debbie showed the highest level of hospitality.Anyone needing some custom mods or just 1st quality basic repair work done to your stuff, consider Joe(our friendly neighborhood Bloke)...
