Shorten BBC Tuba Rest?

I guess I am a runt. I purchased a used BBC rest and it is too tall for me...at its lowest position...oh the shame!

I recall reading about someone who had done this a while back, but searching has been in vain.

Can anyone suggest the best way to accomplish this. I have discomfort due to pinched nerves and would really like to play more often and for longer periods than I can right now.
