Gig Bag for Conn 56J

Post by Kevin Lilley »

I have recently purchased a Conn 56J but I would like to have a gig bag. I don't mind the case but the weight of everything (tuba, music, stand) makes it a little difficult to manage. I would like to find a bag but I am worried that I will buy one that the horn will not fit in. Seeing that the tuba is shorter than normal with a tight wrap and a large bell I am concerned about denting or folding in the bell. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

The King 2341 I bought a few months back came with a Cronkhite cordura bag. It's very well made and the zipper allows the bag to be opened like a hard case, something I like a lot. If you go to Steve Ferguson's web-site, http://www.hornguys.com" target="_blank and look in the "cases" section, you will find a chart with all the major tubas and the size of the available Cronkhite bag. Glenn will also make a custom bag for you at a slight additional charge.
