Tuba players needed for tour gigs

Post by tubajoe »

Greetings...

NYC/NOLA based singer-songwriter needs some great tuba playing! Michael Wagner (ie 'Chappy') is a great guitar and CRAZY ukulele player with groovy songs. Usually here in NYC he uses either myself or Brian Wolff (of Drums and Tuba fame). Michael's brother Robert who plays sax with the band wrote the recent Verizon commercial we all heard with John Gross playing that great second-line part.

Michael asked me to post this here to find local tuba players in the vicinities he's playing.

Michael is embarking on a tour in September and wants to use various tuba players along the way. The music is funky-ish folky with a NOLA feel. The music is not hard, but you've got to play forms and changes (they are not too difficult) and you should be comfortable putting it together in little or no rehearsal. (ie be able to hang) Pay is... I'll let you work that out with him.

So far the dates are:
Sept 2nd, Georgetown at the Tombs (http://www.thetombs.com)
Sept 14th, Atlanta, GA at U*Space Art Gallery (http://www.uspacegallery.com)
Sept 17th, Columbus, Ohio, at Dick's Den
Sept 18th, Cleveland Ohio at the Barking Spider (http://www.barkingspidertavern.com)

There are also dates TBA in Asheville, Nashville and Baltimore.

If interested, drop Michael an email at....

...or feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions.

Nope, just a dude that is on tour who wanted to use local players from each city he visits (he is touring alone, or possibly with his brother) and they are picking up the rest of the band in each city. Nice guy, big fan of the tuba (thus his NOLA roots) A lot of his shows are solo, but he enjoys working with tuba players and wanted to do these tour shows with someone on the big horn.

He asked if there was some sort of online forum for tuba players... I said: "hmm..."
