X = Bach 12

Post by J.c. Sherman »

Who else out there makes anything close to a Bach 12? I'm liking the Bach 12 for my Kalison DS CC, but it seams slightly, well, "unrefined".

Thanks!

I'm not sure what a reverse-taper throat is; it soundslike it gets smaller from the throat to the end of the shank :-)

Hmm. Large bowl. Large throat. Large Backbore. Bruno Tilz? Seriously, try some of the PT's, like the 48.

The cup size is close to a Marcinkiewicz 18. Throat bore on the Marc. 18 is 8.20mm

when owned my kalsion DS i tried a bach 12 and it seemed stuffy. But, its a preference. I used a loud Lm-7 and a pt-48. the pt-48 had a slightly lighter tone and seemed to hinder response by a fraction. The Lm-7 was my favorite. It got a nice deep big sound the was well in tune and responded excellent. i thought it would be to powerful for it but it was great in all dynamic ranges.

Miraphone TU29 design feels pretty close but just a little bit bigger than the 12.

It is a little stuffy on my end, but it's comfortable and the ensembles I play with it prefer it in side-by-side tests. I'd like to find something which plays a little better on my end, so knowing what's close is very helpful.

Bloke, thanks for the definition - Interesting idea....

Maybe it feels "unrefined" because you didn't pay half a million bucks for the mouthpiece!!!!! :D :D :D :D

Please, oh please God, I'm just kidding!
