Is Bobo using a Miraphone 184 on Prokofiev 5

Post by Easty621 »

I was wondering if he was using the 184 on the Previn recording from 1986. Wow, that is quite a sound from a very small horn if it is which wouldn't be surprising. I have the Dutoit, Previn, Levi and the tubists all sound great, I don't know which I like best.

Greg, if you're talking about the 80s recording/Grammy winner, that's Gene.

Of course, I was wrong once. Or twice. :tuba: :tuba:

That WAS Gene. One of the best recordings of it available still.

If you want Mike Sanders at his best, try the Ivan the Terrible recording, same orchestra. Amazing playing.

Roger played a 188 from 1982-89

I believe most of the LAPO recordings from the mid 1970's to 1982 were on his 186 and before that he played a 184.
