Øystein Baadsvik on tuba with Jørgen Larsen on piano
Two Words – Totally Awesome

If you live anywhere within a half day drive of Texas Christian University or Tennessee Tech University, Please, Please, Please make every effort to go there in the coming days to see Mr. Baadsvik & Larsen in recital and Masters Classes.
I drove 7 hours round trip to Oberlin Conservatory of Music last evening and it was worth every second of the drive on black, rainy highways to hear both of these artists perfom. The recital setting was intimate, making for great listening, and both were true gentlemen of the highest sort, being extremely personable while staying around for over forty minutes after a very imformative Masters Class to chat with anyone and sign programs and copies of Mr. Baadsvik’s CD TUBA CARNIVAL.
I really feel the need to give a huge push to anyone lucky enough to be within any reasonable distance of these last two US recitals to get up, get in your car, on your bike, skateboard, or tractor and go listen to and absorb from who I would consider one of the best tuba artists of our day. Yo Yo Ma is to Cello as Øystein Baadsvik is to tuba. Yes I said that correctly. No string player in their right mind would pass up a free recital and to listen in on a master’s class with Yo Yo Ma. Here is our opportunity...
GO! You will grin the whole way home!

PS: sit down front! you have not lived until you have had Mr. Baadsvik play pedal tones while you are staring straight down the bell of his horn two feet away.
A huge Thank you to Miraphone for sponsoring these series and to Mr. Ron Bishop of the Cleveland Orchestra and Oberlin Conservatory for making it available in Ohio. a Gorgeous campus and some excellent tuba students there

Heard these guys just a little while ago at TCU -- inspiring in every sense of the word. Their communication w/each other as an ensemble is astounding. Oystein's dynamic range and total commitment to artistic expression pushed even my imagination of what the tuba is capable of. It was a rare treat, from both a musical and an entertainment aspect. Many thanks to Richard Murrow, Miraphone, and of course, the performers. Anyone within a half day's drive of TN Tech would be very remiss to not try and catch the final stop on the recital tour.
