Dear All,
While studying tuba throughout the years, there have been a few books or pieces that I always found fun. As time moved moved on, some of these have become more difficult or impossible (due to being out of print) to find. For the last few years, we have been trying to get permission to bring some of my favorites back! The latest is:
Eleven Duets for Tuba - Vaclav Nelhybel
This was originally published by General Music, then Boston Music and then a few years ago it was acquired by EMI. After being purchased by EMI, it went out of print. In cooperation with Hal Leonard, we have been able get several Nelhybel pieces back into print. So far, Suite For Tuba and Scherzo Concertante for Horn are also back and available. There will be more, but the duets above are the last of the tuba pieces for a while. If anyone is curious, Suite for Trombone and Quartet for Horns will be next. I just need to find more time to get them done!
You can find the duets on the Cimarron site (along with a sample) and soon at your favorite sheet music outlets around the United States and the globe.
Wishing all a happy and healthy weekend,
Nelhybel Duets back in print!

Re: Nelhybel Duets back in print!
Woo-hoo !
I just placed my order.
I have fond memories of cracking up the first time I played these back in the early 80's. They're fun to play, and a great ice breaker for a new tuba pal. Unfortunately, they belonged to my friend, and I never found my own copy . . . until today!
Thanks for publishing them.

Are these different from the book of 10 available from Hickey or Sheetmusic?

This set is different. It is similar in style, but a different set. The newly published set will soon be available at Hickey's etc. In fact, copies will be going out to Hickeys tomorrow. It may take time for them to add them to their catalog, but if you call and request a copy this will generally happen faster. Just call and ask for Dave, Eric or Chuck! All three are great guys and very helpful.sailn2ba wrote:Are these different from the book of 10 available from Hickey or Sheetmusic?
Here is the difference between the two sets:
The set of 10 was stored in Vaclav's basement along with hundreds of other unpublished works (look for more releases in the future). With the blessing of his widow, I took this manuscript and entered it into Finale and put them into print. The new set of 11 was in publication for many years, but after EMI acquired the rights they to put them out of print.
If you are a Nelhybel fan, after many years out of print you will now find Ludus and Musica Festiva for Tuba Trio and several other works that were in manuscript available from your favorite music store.
Wishing all well,
Bryan Doughty
