What's more interesting is that it's a different price for the same item number (#470831X) on Woodwind and Brasswind's site. Someone should call Roger and find out what's up with this.

Just spoke to Roger, ordered mine...
Supposedly a mess-up by "Musician's friend," but the exact same horns...
You can expect the price to go back up very soon, if not immediately.

Don't forget your gig bag, hard case, flight case, and playing stand.
Looks like you can shake some walls with this horn.

I think you will see alot more high end tubas come down in price in this current economy over time. Question: will there be a flood of high end pro horns hitting the used instrument market soon?

Like from wannbe's who bought those high end horns thinking that would land them a symphony job, found out the cold hard facts of life and now need to eat?TUBAD83 wrote:I think you will see alot more high end tubas come down in price in this current economy over time. I'm one of the ones who ordered a scratch 'n dent THOR from MusiciansFriend, and I must say that the horn is literally brand new. There is not a scratch, ding, or cosmetic blemish on this horn. It is literally a brand new horn that has been shipped to me. I must've gotten really lucky when I ordered this horn because I love it.

Not at all. Not a music major. Never even wanted a symphony job. Don't play in community bands. Just observe the breed.LJV wrote: Wow, man, a lot of hate and bitterness in that post.![]()

Re: So, I'm sniffin' around...
I have seen a number of kids just fresh out of hs and heading to college with these high dollar pro horns (graduation gifts from the folks no doubt)...they show up for rehearsal in one of my groups for a few times--now one would think that with such an instrument they have this big nice sound...NOT. You can barely hear them and what you hear is, lets say, far from impressive; actually they spend most the time trying not to drop the horn on the floor! Its fairly obvious they are not going to be music majors for long and those horns get sold eventually.lgb&dtuba wrote:Like from wannbe's who bought those high end horns thinking that would land them a symphony job, found out the cold hard facts of life and now need to eat?TUBAD83 wrote:I think you will see alot more high end tubas come down in price in this current economy over time. Jim is right--those who do excel and manage to graduate will find a very tough and VERY competitive job market out there....and unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) this will be major source of nice (almost) new pro horns getting into the used instrument market. How will this impact sales of new horns I wonder?

I played Bloke's Thor last year and fell in love with the sound.
Man, I've been away from TubeNet for two days and missed out on a great deal. $4,000 off is not a bad deal! I guess I'll have to wait until some kid needs a "new scooter".
Yes, the sight now reads, "We're sorry, this product has been discontinued."LJV wrote:Looks like the offer has been now "discontinued".
Sounds like some folks a received a great deal on a wonderful tuba!
