Here's another possibility. Kevin Powers at Michigan Musical Instrument Service--you can probably reach him through Custom Music Company.

Where to take it depends on what you want done. If you want a full blown restoration, the shops mentioned by some of the posters would be good but it will cost many $$$. If you want to get a good cleaning, a few easy to reach dents removed, valves aligned, slides greased, ect. Then almost any shop can help you. I don't know if Midwest Music still has a shop in the Hays store or not. They might have a central shop in Norton or Salina. You could seek out Dave Keller in Hutchinson (any relation?) or drive down to Wichita to Wichita Band or Senseney Music. They both have reputable repair shops and could help you with either repairs or advice.

Too bad you weren't in Hays twenty five years ago. The long defunct Hays Music had a huge store on Main Street where the First National Bank is now located. In the basement was a first rate repair facility. The owner, Viv Moeckel, had the most unbelievable collection of antique instruments including many tubas stored behind the repair shop.

Just curious, where did you find the double bell euph? I wasn't by any chance one of Hal Palmer's horns was it?

I don't want to change the direction of the thread, but what brand and model double-bell is it? I'm just curious, I absolutely love them!

Ron Partch in Toronto does fantastic work with brass instruments (just ask the Canadian Brass). He has people shipping horns to him all the time...you might try him.
