How long does it typically take to get a DMA?
Also, what's typically involved (Thesis paper, recital, etc.)?

Re: A DMA
2.5 to 3 years is typical to complete a DMA.
Most programs require 3-4 recitals, and a dissertation/DMA Essay.
Some schools such as Yale do not require a final project. To be granted the DMA, the student has to go out into the real world and make a significant contribution to the field. After winning a job, or establishing a national reputation, the DMA can then be awarded.
