Miraphone 1291 cc

Hey I has a chance to but a Miraphone 1291 cc tuba. And I was wondering what everyone thinks of this tuba. I have never owned a Miraphone brand tuba before. Are they good, last long, dependable? And how does the Miraphone brand compare to the Meinl Weston brand? I have a very very old Meinl Weston 32 and I was wondering if the Miraphone is better then this Meinl weston? Thank you for everything.

Two parts to this:
1) Miraphone is one of the best tuba brands out there. Very comparable to MW, in that they are both professional-grade instruments. Used Miraphones hold their value very well. Take care of it and it'll last you forever.

2) That's actually the same switch I made -- from a MW-30 to a Miraphone 1291. I think the 1291 is a fantastic tuba. Not perfect, but really really nice. Comparing to your MW, they are just different types of tubas. If you like the Miraphone and you can afford it, buy it. If you don't like it later on, you can resell it and get most (all?) of your money back.

I've played a couple, They're decent and hold fairly well intune. I was just never "wowed" by them. The low register on the ones I've played had to be accessed by a massive mouthpiece, which is ok if you always play a massive mouthpiece but if you switch around a lot like I do it can be an odd experience down there. Some people are crazy for these horns and will tell you all about them, I've just never played one that was all too impressive, . I think a lot of people are just right for the Horn, just not for me.
