Sunday evening I went to an Oakland, CA recording/performance by a new brass ensemble organized by Gregg Moore (his website) - they played some amazing transcriptions of brass band music from all over the "3rd World" - from India, Mexico, South America, Libya, Macedonia and a few other places.
The tubist was Zach Spellman, who mostly plays for the San Francisco Opera. He was using a very unusual small 3 rotor F tuba (about 100 years old) but it put out plenty of sound for the room.
I will let you all know when the recordings are available...
