I'm visiting NYC this week, didn't plan on playing, so I didn't bring a tuba. I ran into a big band arranger who needs a tuba player this Friday night for a recording session. I would love to play the gig but can't unless I can find an instrument. Is there anyone in NYC or the surrounding area that would be willing to lend a horn this Friday night? I play CC or F, but could manage on BBb.
A big thank you if you can help.

Being that's it's NYC and there's more than a couple capable players in the area, I might suggest it's in better etiquette that you pass off the gig and they provide you with some renumeration. Maybe I'm different this way, but I wouldn't lend out my horn to any out-of-towner to do a gig.

Thanks for the heads up. I know a couple players who could do a great job and would certainly appreciate that opportunity. Should be a great blow!

I was going to reply but realized I'm too late.
OP, if you did end up passing this off, I hope you made sure that the player knew you were moving to town. Hopefully they will return the favour to help get you established.
