Dear listers:
What is the proper substance to use, to polish the gold wash bell interior of an old Sousaphone?
Years ago, on another horn, I used Tarn-X for the whole horn (both silver & gold wash portions) and discovered that the gold wash faded away. I don't use Tarn-X any more, but I wonder if I need a special polish for the gold wash (I currently use silver Tarnishield, and Haggerty's spray silver polish).
Thanks!
What to use to polish gold wash?

Windex (contains a dab of ammonia) works OK for gold finishes and also satin silver. The primary reason for gold on anything is that it is very resistant to tarnishing. It just gets dirty.
