1971 YouTube feature on US military musicians

Post by imperialbari »

Being on the right web list gave me this link, where some TubeNetter’s even may get a glimpse of themselves. Interesting to see that one band gave opportunity to a musical career of pulling the bass drum buggy.

I don’t recognise all of the music, but especially the title of one march would have my interest. It is played by 3 bands in the section about military bands going to foreign countries (Germany, a desert state, and Japan).

This YouTube video is 30 minutes long.

The trumpet student is the legendary L.F. Edwards wh spent most of his time with the Continental Army Band. LF was a good trumpet player, but was a GREAT guitar player and singer. He also one of the funniest human beings on planet earth. It was always a fun day when you worked for him.

Thanks for the 1961 link, David!

This older link concentrates on Pershing’s Own from Fort Myers. Which is OK. Still I find the 1971 feature more interesting because it has more music and much less speak.
