Have these been recorded?

Post by davetubaking »

Just going thru some music I haven't looked at in a while and wondered if any of these have been recorded:

Alec Wilder - Sonata for Tuba and Piano
Alec Wilder - Concerto for Tuba and Concert Band
Alec Wilder - Ten Tiny Trios (3 tubas)
Leonard Salzedo - Sonata for Tuba and Piano
Walter Sear - Sonata for Unaccompanied Tuba

They're great pieces but I'm not sure I've ever seen a commercially available recording :(

I programmed the Wilder Sonata for one of my college recitals, but couldn't find a recording of it. That was before everyone had the internet, so I probably didn't extinguish every option to look for one.

If memory serves, Harvey Phillips recorded some of Wilder's music, and I think a great deal of it was written for him. Maybe it's out there on LP.

Good luck with your search. Keep us posted.

and does that LP still exist? - perhaps in a more digital version which someone may be kind enough to PM me about - perhaps some sort of digital exchange could be offered. :)
