Thanks for posting this, Alex.

Does anyone remember another TV feature on Harvey? I don't know what program it was on but I thought it might have been 60 Minutes. It was not this one, and I recall vividly one of the things in the program was of Harvey practicing in the back seat of the car with Carol driving. It would be great to find that one as well if anyone knows about it.

Thanks for putting these up. As a person who knows of Mr. Phillips only through TubaChristmas, I'm enjoying finding out a little bit more about the man.

Isn't YouTube great?

They briefly mention 1988 or 89 somewhere in the video.

I wish the tv microphone had been better, it distorts too quickly. You don't get to hear the beautiful sound that Harvey used so often.

The only dates I heard/saw in the clip are the number '76 on a bicentennial-themed tuba (~1:47) and the HS kid who wants to study with Dr. P mentioning that he will graduate in 1987 (~6:50).

At ~6:30, the voiceover mentions that for the past 12 years Dr. Phillips had been doing events commemorating great tubists of the past, and that one of those events was TubaChristmas (founded in 1974). While some of those events may have occurred prior to the founding of TC, the mention of TC establishes a terminus ad quem of 1986 for the laying in of the voiceover, and since the end of the clip implies the segment was broadcast during the Christmas season, it's reasonable to infer a broadcast date of no later than 1987.

I wondered that as well. I assumed it was the Holton Phillips model but didn't get a good look at it.

I think it is some type of Conn and not a Holton but besides that I don't know anything else.

I think I was at that NYC tubachristmas in the final scene from the mid 80's (85 or 86?)with the "Rutgers" on the sousa bells! I also remember when Steve Dillon had that Conn raincatcher sousa with the santa in the bell. Steve also went to Rutgers.

Didn't Harvey help design the Conn 3J CC. I had always thought that was his horn. I think this video was made before the Holton was even made.
