They should set up a Google map to show the locations. Drop down menus by state/date can be confusing... for example, I'm in a new state, close to a lot of other new states, and no clue what is/isn't near by until I look it up anyway.

Yes, it is necessary to announce TubaChristmas events because some people do not check that website, and it may serve as a reminder for those planning to come. I am sure the relatively few TubaChristmas postings here (several of which are mine) are not clogging the TubeNet pipeline. There are plenty of other topics that accomplish that quite well.

We used to have a big one in San Jose, but it was not TubaChristmas®©℗™ - Tony Clements conducted TubaFest Xmas for many years and it would draw over 200 players at times. His charts were much more interesting than the TubaChristmas®©℗™ ones, IMO.

There are several major university and college bands, hundreds of high school bands, several nationally high ranked D&B Corps, community bands and orchestras out the wazoo, and a large number of somewhat serious tuba/instrument collectors/players within an 100 mile radius - but I guess just not enough interest in producing a TubaChristmas®©℗™ this year... (Sacramento is a 2-3 hr drive, depending on traffic. I go there if it is for a paying gig

That's why I moved to Alberta where it's okay to call it Christmas and TubaChristmas involves spending as much time thawing your frozen valves as playing.. :/

I've been trying to get it banned, but my efforts are more focused on the Central Valley...
I agree, the Oakland one is a lot closer, but there aren't ever as many people as in sac...though musically it is more fun in the smaller group
