Verne Reynolds - Centones for Brass Quintet

Post by Mark »

My quintet recently played through the Centone No. 5 and really liked it. I see that there are 12 volumes in the series. Do you have any favorites or ones you don't like?

Are you aware of any recordings of these works?

Sidebar response:

I think non-musicologists can easily overdose on Renaissance music after a few minutes. I generally prefer to only play three movements as one set before moving on. As a test of this, try playing a concert consisting of ALL the Centones. Then see if anyone is left in the audience. :P
