I just attended the New Mexico Music Educators Association convention this week and talked to a few (very few, it IS New Mexico) and heard about two new tubas coming out or possibly coming back.
The Getzen rep is going to push that they remanufacture the G50, not only in CC but in a true BBb. He's going to the NAMM show next month and hopefully something will come of it.
Jupiter is "suppose to" be making a CC 4p/1r right now. They have a prototype and has fixed the flaws and is in production.
Hopefully those attending TMEA can follow up to see if there is any truth to these. Remember the Conn F?

Now there's an alien concept!the elephant wrote:... I heard recently that the missing mandrels used to manufacture the two CSO Yorks were discovered in a barn in Utah. The mandrels will be used to manufacture exact copies of these rare instruments in large numbers at prices that anyone can afford ... The instrument will be manufactured by the Jin Bao company of China.
Really.

Siriusly ... whatever happened to those guys out in Roswell developing what they called a "UFOnium" (supposedly made from recycled alien hull plating -- if that isn't unobtainium, I don't know what is)? I heard they were quoting an out-of-this-world price for it, too -- only 6.023 x 10**23 Jovian krellnar (FOB Ganymede) -- unbelievable! Haven't heard anything about 'em for a while ... it's almost as if they'd ... disappeared ...

The Chinese make everything fast and cheap, but do a better job at orange flavored chicken than York replica tubas. The thing that worries me are these factories in China. How quickly a brass factory can be converted into buiding missles.
When the Tsunami hits the west coast, will the orient be rushing to our aid with battleships named after Mau to help us? I think not! They will want to invade us! After all, we owe them an awful lot of money.
