Chicago-area repairs, good experience

Post by Chris Horsch »

I recently tried to contact the Brass Bow in Arlington Heights for some horn repairs and learned they have been out of business for several years. Fortunately, the telephone bounced to Fix This! in Palatine. The brass guy there is tuba player Dana Hofer. I had a very good experience, competent work done quickly. 847 359-4444, http://www.fixthisinstrumentrepair.com" target="_blank. The TubeNet "shops" list should be updated.

I've heard nothing but good things about Dana, he has been highly recommended by my peers for several years. I'm glad you posted that link because people still say he's at Brass Bow in casual talk.

I take both of my horns there routinely. Wouldn't think of going anywhere else. I picked up one of those 5 valve BBb Shillers and he worked it over to be every bit as good as the 1291 that it replicates. Has some great new cleaning equipment too last I heard. Good guy.
