I totally agree with Andy.... plus with what it costs to have a comeplete silver plating job done on your sousaphone.... I can't imagine the cost of having a few dents removed (depending on how big and location) would be that great in the overall picture. Plus should you decide you want them out after the plating is done, you certainly wouldn't want someone smacking on that new silver and possibly marking it up. Just a thought... either way I am sure it will look great

I'm with Kevin. The little dent's and dings are like scars on the body. They add character and show you've lived. Big dents are like serious injutries that require medical attention, like a big cut needing stitches to heal well. I thingf even the big dents should leave some sign after repar, like the scar left by stitches. If course others will disagree.
Kevin, the biggest issue will be finding somone to replate it witout doung the dent removal. It's hard to find a place that will do what you want instead of what they want. I understand some of their reasoning, but if I just want a flattened bow opend up, why must I get it smoothed like new (or better), and polished when the rest of the hown is tarnished and missing laquer?
Similar problem happen in automotive body/interior shops. No one will do the "keep it from getting worse" job, they will only do the "like new" repair.

During a Christmas concert at an elementary school I noticed some teachers laughing at my 1940 King.Dented it may be but her sound stands out proudly and bold.I have no intention of rumpling or unrumpling my old King.I take care of my old horn and so far it has performed above and beyond the call of duty. These twits are clueless and if they don't like dents the can get thier tuba somewhere else.
