I am flying into Albany, NY on a small commuter plane and then driving to Lennox, MA for the Tanglewood Music Festival, but I've never dealt with flying my tuba on a small plane. My choice is either Continental or United. Does anybody have experience with flying on small planes with their tuba? Is their anything to look out for?
Thanks

When you say "small commuter plane", what type aircraft do you mean? I think you would be wise to check with the carrier and see what type craft you will be on and whether or not a tuba could, let alone, would be accepted. Failure to do careful planning here could see you and tuba seperated at an airport with possibly disastrous consequences. Get cracking and good luck!!!

I dont know if you are locked into the Albany airport, but additional flights into Hartford , Ct ( Bradley Airport ?) might give you more choices .

When I flew to AZ for ITEA 2010 I bought an extra seat on the plane for my tuba.
