Hello everyone
I recently bought a used Meinl Weston 2145 from Baltimore Brass. For some reason I'm having a hard time tuning the tuba. I'm either 20 cents flat or sharp. I switched mouthpieces hoping that it would fix the problem but it's still out of tune. Any advice on tuning this instrument. Also I switched from Bb to C. Thanks

Re: Meinl Weston 2145 Tuning issues
My advice at this point would be to be patient. If you just switched to CC for the first time, it may take your mind a while to mentally adjust to the new harmonic series without "wanting" to hear a BBb harmonic series.

Throw the tuner away for a few days and try to play along with some drones. Your pitch will eventually settle in, but checking the tuner every 2 minutes will just depress you.
EVERY new horn I've switched to has come with a period of extreme sharpness, usually followed by a period of over compensation. Just use your ears and you'll be fine in no time.
