Need your flight case pictures
Hello, I am enbarking upon a project. I am going to build a flight case for the Marzan Bb I just got from Dan Schultz. I am heading to Oklahoma to play a gig in July and driving is twice as much as flying. So, I am going to fly and build a flight case (not in that order
). It would be much appreciated if you all could post some pics on design for me to look at. I am thinking that I am going to design a case where the horn sits side-side instead of front-back. That way it can be built with side and top and bottom supports and the bell can be free floating. Seems it would cut down on the liklihood of damage should the case take a tumble. I am open to any and all offers of advice.
Many thanks. Wish me luck.

If it's the big Marzan you will have to pay extra fees for every flight.
Here's my case project, which has been posted here before:

AHH, I did not think of fiberglassing the seams. I did think of epoxy though. I also did not think about the basketball or heat plate for bell protection. GREAT IDEAS! Thanks to you both.
But, I think my case would have to be completly smashed before the bell gets dinged as I plan to build in a crush zone so to speak. I think I am leaning towards packing the horn in the gig bag too. That would give it a little give when jarred around. I had thought I would do all 90 angle cuts for simplisity. Basically making a 6 sided box, laying out the hardware and then cutting the lid. All seems will be reinforced with aluminum angle and back plated or washer reinforced. All hardware recessed. Piano hinge on the top. 2 recessed corner wheels and a recessed handle to drag it around by. I thought I would use 3/8 MDF for the panels. I had thought of paint and then urothane. I do like the idea of rhino lining though. Maybe a roll on truck bed liner?
