for Conn Sousaphone historians

Post by kathott »

Hello,
I am cleaning up a Conn Sousaphone recently given to me. It a BBb, the bell engraving simply says Conn Ltd., Elkhart etc.
On the collar of the main body there are two numbers stamped. One says "46" and the other "38K".
What do these numbers indicate?

The serial number on the valve cluster is 2653**.
Is this a "classic" sousaphone? Can I use it to colonize a planet?

Thank you,
Kathott
Schmenge Kaiser EEb, 3 valve (two rotors, one piston), with a Kosicup mouthpiece (9.2 mm)

38K is the model number. 46 is just a manufacturing number so the two mating collar parts can be matched after final assembly.

Like a 38k's less hot (but still attractive) sister; familiar, less exotic, and more available :D
